Finally! A movie about George Washington - that's right, George Freaking Washington! -- is coming to the Big Screen. Finally! I mean...Geeze! It's about fricking time.
Of course, this isn't coming from a major Hollywood studio. That would be too much to ask. They'd probably ruin it anyway. So, we're left with Angel Studios fixing this ... travesty. And it is a travesty. An absolute travesty that there hasn't been a worthy movie about the Father of our Country!
This upcoming movie from Angel Studios is set during the French and Indian War, and it looks to be an exciting film about the origin story of America's greatest real-life superhero.
George Washington is the most important figure in American history. He is the most indispensable figure in American history. And he is the greatest action hero in American history. That there hasn't been a worthy Big Screen movie about him is inexcusable.
And the only reason I can think of is that a movie that honors Washington would run afoul to too many people who are emotionally and ideologically invested in the guilt-and-grievance "America-is-bad" narrative that infects academia and certainly Hollywood. Shame on all of them!
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Washington was perfect. I'm not saying we should overlook the transgressions of our Founders or the United States. I'm saying that people are multi-faceted and history is complex. And, for all his faults, George Washington's good outweighs his bad. And we owe him a debt of gratitude we can never repay. So...
Long live the memory and legacy of George Washington, father of the United States of America. May this movie do him honor.
