Barton was right about a lot of things, but his usefulness to his own cause expired some time ago, and it looks like he's just jumped the shark.
Which is a shame, because Jefferson really wasn't as hostile to religion in the public square as "common knowledge" holds him to be. But it's a bridge way too far to say he personally believed in a word of it, or purposely pumped "Jesus Christ" into the polity on any level.
